UPDATE MAY 29, 2013 - Curtis Aukshunas found drowned: The badly decomposed body found on May 26th floating in the Hudson River just 20 blocks south of the George Washington bridge is in fact that of the missing 25-year-old man.

Aukshunas, a NYC financial analyst, mysteriously went missing from work in midtown Manhattan on May 8th around noontime. He was dressed in a dark gray suit (no tie) and was believed to have taken a taxi at nearby 51st street and Seventh Avenue.

Allegedly he was last sighted in the vicinity of the George Washington Bridge, although it is not clear yet if he committed suicide by jumping, slipped over the rail as he was jogging, or met up with foul play somehow. Autopsy results are still pending.

Aukshunas resided in New Jersey with his wife and a host of rescue pets. Per his missing persons poster, he was 6' 3" tall and about 165 pounds, with brown hair and eyeglasses.

If,you visit the fbook site, you can click on the Katu news sight, also,on quotes under the news article,a few others missing. I don't understand why Portland Oregon drownings are not being discussed further. Julie

    1. Thanks for this update, my friend. I was aware of his case and will follow to see if foul play is involved.

However, I myself did not feature it on Killing Killers because we don't cover accidental drownings or ones that are clearly suicides, as did seem to be the situation with McConnell-Heglund who, according to his family, was depressed when he disappeared.

Condolences to the young man's loved ones. May he rest in peace now. How are you holding up? Do you have any news concerning Eric's drowning?

    2. Rox,where did you read Matt was depressed? Aren't we all? I guarantee you,it will be ruled NO FOUL PLAY. We got a p.i. right before eric was found, and he told us,"eric wanted to go missing" HA! No new regarding Eric. Case closed. NO FOUL PLAY. Sorry, but he was murdered. We believe he was held for 2 weeks, than dumped in the Willamette, hence, the ligature marks around his ankles, neck and wrists, petechia, and not enough water in the lungs to be a drowning. But hey,NO FOUL PLAY!

    3. @ "Rox,where did you read Matt was depressed?"

From the family's various statements to the press.

Listen, would you be willing to e-mail me those autopsy reports in anticipation of a VOICES FOR THE DEAD interview? I did inquire some time ago and you haven't yet indicated a willingness to participate in the series, despite that you're a frequent visitor to the Killing Killers site.

Even though Eric is older than the average Smiley Face victim profile (17 - 30 on the average), I ask again because the circumstances of his disappearance and *drowning* match the classic Drowning Men scenario.

Also, if petechiae were present in Eric's face and/or eyes (blood spots, for lack of a better description), that's a very strong indication he was strangled. (True drown victims' eyes tend to be clear (from being submerged all the time) even though these victims also die from asphyxiation.

Ligature marks = binding. Is that mentioned in the coroner's report as well?! If so, I really can't understand why police are ruling out foul play here.

    4. yes. It is mind blowing how his case was handled. We all knew what petechiae was indicative of,I spoke with Gannon about it also, and he validated the petechiae as well. And get this...it was ruled, asphyxiation d/t drowning(yet very little water in lungs) NO FOUL PLAY. I will talk with his sister...she left Portland last week and moved to the Midwest...yes,binding was mentioned, but, only by the 2nd medical xaminer they hired...I am having our usual phone call this evening...I will keep you posted.

  2. NYC: "Man's body found May 26th in the Hudson River about 20 blocks south of the George Washington Bridge. ID and autopsy results pending."

The above news item may or may not be relevant to the Aukshunas disappearance, but it was published yesterday. The GW bridge was allegedly one of the last sightings for this missing person.

Gotta say, there's some odd and intriguing speculation surrounding his case, but I won't elaborate at this time as it could just be meaningless chatter.

Verified updates will be added to the post itself.

    2. Forgive me, .......I was referencing to his Mom and Dad's children, all boys. Not meaning to leave out the sisters by the second marriage of his mother. (by the way, she is an incredible mother and loved her Curtie) It was not intentional, Please allow me to include his sisters by his Mom's second marriage. We can all agree, that ALL of his siblings Loved Curtis and will be affected by his passing.

  6. R.I.P. to Curtis Aukshunas who, for whatever reason, died much too young this May. By all descriptions, it does indeed sound like he was a great guy.
