NYC police are seeking help in solving the "obvious" murder of a man found weighted, bound and drowned in Sheepshead Bay.
The drown victim who washed ashore this week near Manhattan Beach was
wearing "cement shoes" and had his "hands tied behind his back" before being dumped in the water "in a plastic bag."
A spokesman for the NYPD said a Kingsborough College student walking near Oriental Boulevard on Monday morning discovered the unidentified male's weighted and bound corpse on the shoreline.
He didn't say whether police already know the murdered man's identity, but did reveal he has a number of tattoos on his back, including one of a rose and another of the Virgin Mary.
It was "obviously a homicide," the detective emphasized, noting that the victim's feet had been "submerged in concrete" to guarantee he would suffer a gruesome death.
Anyone with information about this case is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
UPDATE 5/5/16: The drowned murder victim found weighted with "cement shoes" earlier this week in NYC has been identified as 28-year-old Crips gang-member, Peter Martinez.
ReplyDeleteThe reason for Martinez's killing, and who did it, is still under investigation, but the young man had apparently vanished in February.
He had an extensive history of arrests and convictions, according to a spokesman with the NYPD.
The slain gangster was also affiliated with the same Crips crew that the now-jailed rapper Bobby Shmurda was linked to.
Though Peter Martinez's brutal drowning death appears to be a classic mob hit, no suspects have been named or charged yet.
