Closing the Year on Crime & Punishment

Killing Killers wishes everyone the very best of fortunes for 2013 and is closing out the calendar of 2012 on a light note today, since this year's news has been so heavy.

CRIME & PUNISHMENT

It might appear, from the photo above, that these two bashful teenagers were in the midst of a tryst of sorts and got busted by their peers.

But take a closer look and you'll see it just isn't so. The boys are merely getting their comeuppance for doing what some boys seem to do so well: brawling in the schoolyard.

Most school administrators take the view that fighting is a very serious crime no matter how old or young the perpetrators. Consequently, it's the kind of conduct that usually amounts to suspension as the swiftest and most appropriate form of punishment.

Of course, as in the real criminal justice system, determining just how long somebody should get banned from attending their classes usually depends on whether it's his first offense or if it's part of a troubling pattern.

Two days, a week, a month, forever...despite what most students loudly say about this in the presence of their friends, it's actually not their number one objective. Suspension from school for any length of time, or worse even permanently, is not ideal in the long run.

In fact, apart from being a lonely experience much akin to being publicly shunned, most kids can easily comprehend it's a real academic hassle as well. Especially those who have plans to graduate and get somewhere in life.

That's what the principal of Westwood High School in Mesa Arizona was figuring when he stumbled upon Charles and Julio above engaged in all out fisticuffs on school grounds. He broke their fight up and gave each young man the option to be suspended for the squabble or, alternately, to simply hold hands for an hour and be done with it.

A picture's worth a thousand words---you can see what these two intelligent youngsters prudently decided between them.

Leading up to this particular day in Westwood history, principal Timothy Richards had been highly praised for his somewhat maverick approach to student tardiness, delinquency, and other educational problems running rampant at Westwood before he was hired.

Indeed, during his brief tenure there, Richards' innovative policies were credited for thwarting the scholastic failure of some 300 students at the high school. Although not by forcing them all to hold hands, naturally.

For this particularly inventive method, however, the man has drawn some fire and ire. Not from Julio and not from Charles, mind you, but from critics on both sides of the isle.

But, regardless of this controversy over whether the punishment fits the crime or is way over the top and socially "traumatizing", the youths made the final choice, and this time they used their heads and chose very well.

What's more, at least one of them claims to have learned a valuable lesson from this experience, and that would be an obvious one: "Don't fight in school," Charles told an inquisitive CBS reporter earlier this month.

Right.

His arch nemesis, Julio, appears to have crumpled a bit under days of ridicule and unwanted Facebook photo-sharing. But, last heard, he's back in classes again too, and not fighting.

Gone

BREAKING NEWS February 10th 2013: A set of human remains was discovered this evening on Vaughn's Island, a nature preserve located approximately two miles from Zachary Wells' Kennebunkport residence and only one mile from the Bush Compound on Walker's Point. The body has been transported to Maine's medical examiner for autopsy and identification. Further updates to this report, if any, will be posted here again. Original story is below, with additional coverage found in the comment section.

Zachary Wells and Prescott Wright are missing

Citing rough seas, bad weather and a lack of clues, police and rescue divers from the wintery state of Maine have officially called off the search for two university students who vanished into thin air on the 20th of December.

Yet that doesn't put an end to the mystery still surrounding this baffling disappearance.

Wells, 21 and a native of Vermont, and Wright, 23 from Massachusetts, are both graduate students at the Landing School for boat design in Arundel, Maine. They were last seen drinking beer together right around the witching hour during a small house-party hosted at Wells' home in neighboring Kennebunkport.

Where the pair of experienced boatsmen went after that nobody seems to know, but when one of Wells' roommates woke at 4AM to go downstairs and turn off a blaring stereo, he says nobody was there.

Kennebunkport is not only home to the accredited post-secondary yachting school that Wells and Wright attend, but has also been a favorite vacationing destination of the Bush family who own a sizable piece of property in that small coastal community.

Referred to generally as "the compound," the Bush's Kennebunkport mansion is situated on Walker's Point and has been in the family for over a century. The historic and stately residence is only about three miles from Wells' and Wright's last known location and is primarily used during the summer months, but heavily guarded year-round by Secret Service agents.

Even the air space over the Bush compound has been formally declared 'prohibited' by the U.S. government.

Landing School administrators, friends and family all assert that neither missing young man had a history of unexplained absences or wandering off even for a day without telling anyone.

Moreover, each left behind a cell phone and a wallet, and were anticipating traveling soon to their respective states in order to spend the Christmas holidays with family.

Only one of the men owns a vehicle--that too remained parked in Wells' driveway.

Investigators say there was no evidence of any disturbance at Wells' Kennebunkport home and the intensive weeklong search in water and on land for the missing men only produced their clothes and two life vests, but "no signs of foul play."

These items were discovered strewn on a small, nearby island which is accessible from shore by foot during low tides, but otherwise cut off except by watercraft.

Police theorize the two may have kayaked there and gotten stranded, but all boating vehicles in the immediate area appear to be accounted for, and none have been reported stolen after the fact.

Officials also say that while they were utilizing sophisticated sonar to scan the sea bottom in the vicinity of where Wells and Wright were last known to be, they received two distinct blips on the radar. However, when divers specifically checked in those locations they reportedly found nothing of interest.

So...what's your theory then?

1. Did Wells and Wright muck out onto temporarily exposed sandbars in a drunken stupor, then accidentally fall in when wading back and drown trying to save each other?
2. Had the hapless twosome inadvertently trespassed onto forbidden land in their early morning meanderings and met up with some dire consequences?
3. Were they abducted for a soon-to-be-announced ransom and their clothing placed on the desolate island as a distraction by the perpetrators?
4. Did one friend slay the other in an inebriated fit of anger and then go into hiding in hopes the matter blows over someday?
5. Have these clever guys elaborately staged a dual disappearance and death so to run away together and start a brand new life?
6. Or did the 'Smiley Face' killers deviate from their usual motif of only one victim per locale per night, in search of more challenging prey?

Looking forward to the answers. In the meantime, anyone who has any information whatsoever about this very strange missing persons case is asked to contact the Kennebunkport Police Department at 207-967-2454.

Wells is described as black-haired with hazel eyes, five-foot-eight and 150 pounds. Wright is brown-haired and blue-eyed, six-foot-four and 200 pounds. Both men are, evidently, naked.

Right to Carry

Inconvenient truths about guns, games, and gore

"CONCEAL & CONTROL"
by Eponymous Rox
read it for free @ Crime Magazine

A public debate is raging now in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings, with the primary focus on three main issues: gun control, violent media, and mental health.

Even the National Rifle Association, overwhelmed by hate mail and in hiding for nearly a week after the December 14th 2012 shooting deaths of 20 first-graders and their six unarmed female teachers, has finally agreed that the level of violence on display this century is unparalleled in American history.

Not since the bloody gangster wars of the 1930’s—and our government’s bloody war on those gangsters—have so many public shootings occurred on U.S. soil.

And criminologists hasten to point out that the worst of these have happened within only the past fifteen years, and have nothing whatsoever to do with organized crime or inner city gangs.

The NRA blames graphic videogames and movies for the steep rise in public shootings by the public, not handguns and not assault rifles. They’ve even gone so far as to suggest that if more people were carrying concealed weapons, particularly in schools which are fast becoming the targets of armed madmen, then these bloodbaths would come to an abrupt halt.

It’s an expected position for this powerful lobby to have taken, of course, and, just as expectedly, one that’s enraged not only the gaming industry and some of Hollywood’s most bloodthirsty writers and directors, but gun control advocates worldwide.

However, despite the admittedly ugly specter of schools becoming heavily policed fortresses in our near future, there’s some indication that the NRA might just be right…

ADAM LANZA FACT SHEET: Falsehoods & Fatal Assumptions

The degree of intentional misrepresentation of the facts in the Sandy Hook Massacre by mainstream media outlets is simply mindboggling.

For instance, a hypothesis put forth by a young marine in which he thought he was paraphrasing his father, a pastor in Newtown Connecticut, was quickly debunked by that pastor himself, who denied his son's theory that Nancy Lanza was trying to commit Adam Lanza soon and, thus, this was the psycho's motive for dressing up as a character from Call of Duty and going on the rampage.

The pastor's prompt protest to FOX's so called "exclusive" scoop of his son's hearsay as "fact" was ignored of course, and, by today, this version is being offered across the globe as the sole "logical" explanation behind a baby killer's slaughter of unarmed women and children.

That a person so mentally deranged is clearly incapable of logical thinking doesn't seem to deter the mainstream press from asserting that looney Lanza was suddenly lucid in his final hours--even though his crime itself is obviously senseless and speaks volumes about the coward's disordered thinking.

In this same vein, the media's relentless characterization of a renowned scholastic failure as a "boy genius" is not only utterly laughable and an insult to intelligence, but dangerous encouragement to those copycat losers who hope to see themselves also falsely glorified.

Keep in mind, this lazy numbskull didn't even graduate from high school, and years later his alleged and brief stint with undergrad studies produced only a 3.26 grade-point average. A score mostly lifted by the computer-obsessed killer's A+ in one of his computer classes.

Sorry, a box of rocks exhibits far more wherewithal, integrity, and substance than this moronic monster ever did. Between the two, I vote for the box of rocks as the genius then.

Smashing a computer is not too brilliant either

On this tactic it must be noted that investigators have yet to announce that it was indeed dumbhead Lanza who destroyed his computer in order to cover his online criminality.

In the meantime, consider that it's not impossible his mother, upon returning from a three-day visit with her family in New Hampshire, had simply lost it when she discovered that during this entire period her game-addicted idiot of a son hadn't eaten or slept whilst playing Call of Duty, or some such single-shooting nutter program of his.

Many a misguided parent driven to their limits has destroyed computers and gaming consoles (whichever) in one final act of desperation, only to end up with their skull smashed in. Or, if their son was a hopelessly weak little weasel, blown to smithereens as they lay in bed sleeping.

Why? Because scientists have discovered that these violent videogames are as addicting as drugs or alcohol, so simply taking them away from someone so completely zonked out on them, as Lanza was, is only inviting more trouble.

As to the destruction of his computer's hard drive serving to completely foil a full exploration of Lanza's digital footprint: That's naïve thinking at best. Besides, from the little that is known already, skilled investigators can easily piece the rest together.

The so called Sandy Hook connection

(Yawn.) Teachers and parents in this district have emphatically and consistently denied any official relationship between Nancy Lanza and the Newtown school system. Period.

Are all these people lying?

Or is it more likely that twisted Adam Lanza gamed himself over the brink of psychosis, of which he'd been teetering for years, and was simply looking to kill people he knew for a fact would be totally defenseless?

After all, as soon as real "players" showed up at the Sandy Hook school, the spineless nitwit cowered out by committing suicide rather than fight them.

As all of his kind does when actually confronted by armed resistance.

Summary (again)

1. No motive here but insanity, any which way you look at it;
2. Uneducated, dingbat, gaming slouch on the warpath is not a "genius" by any means;
3. Only weak-minded sissies dress in killer costumes and target babies and females instead of real soldiers in uniform.
4. Killing unarmed civilians and little kids, and using your mommy's gun to do it with, fails the manhood test.
5. Ditto for sitting around all day playing silly-assed games on the computer.

Nuf said.

"I am Adam Lanza's victim"

A Bearish Boycott Underway

In the aftermath of what is viewed as the most horrific mass murder spree to date, and part of a disturbing trend that concerned citizens worldwide hope to bring to a screeching halt, individuals are quietly calling on their money managers and investment firms this week and demanding they sever any and all financial ties to gun manufacturers.

And in a curious show of conscience the financial industry is listening.

Schools, malls, movie theatres...

"We are all Adam Lanza's victims," is the clear message people are sending to Wall Street this week, as miniature coffins and griefstricken loved ones make a sad and somber journey to the tiny graves that have been freshly dug in Newtown Connecticut.

With that sorrowful sight being televised internationally a major sell-off has begun, and shares in gun companies have begun precipitously falling: Smith & Wesson fell nearly 10 percent, Sturm Roger fell 7.7 percent, Forjas Taurus fell 3.8 percent, Olin fell 2.1 percent...just to name a few.

Those are staggering losses to sustain for only a few days trading, but most analysts from all sectors doubt it's just a "knee-jerk reaction" that will soon fade away.

People are frightened, and don't feel safe anywhere anymore.

The wake, wakes, and wake-up calls

In the immediate wake of the Sandy Hook Massacre, individual investors are not the only ones answering the wake-up call to assault weapon violence and transforming this tragic event into a watershed moment.

Cerberus Capital Management LP just announced yesterday it intends to sell Freedom Group, the largest U.S. manufacturer of firearms and ammunition and a prosperous part of many pension portfolios.

Other major public pension funds are also reviewing their gun-related investments as we speak, and it's predicted they will soon be following suit.

Cerberus Capital's Freedom Group makes the AR-15 Bushmaster assault rifle which was used by a 20-year-old psychotic to kill nearly two dozen first-graders ages six to seven and their unarmed female staffers at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012.

The obsessive video-gamer showed up at the school just as morning classes were commencing dressed as a character from Call of Duty, a single-shooter game that features that same rifle.

Games like Call of Duty are developed and used by the U.S. military as well as many other armed forces for conditioning soldiers to kill.

Investigators report that baby killer Adam Lanza played these kind of violent videogames "for hours everyday" in a windowless basement of his home, to the apparent exclusion of any other activity.

The AR-15 Bushmaster assault weapon was part of his "doomsday prepper" mom's private arsenal. Lanza shot her to death as she lay in her bed sleeping, then took her car and guns to Sandy Hook school.

The weapons he brought there, and the flak jacket he donned, have become the uniform of choice for young mass murderers this century.

Violence and vows

With this year's announcement by U.S. military officials that they plan on redesigning their simulated killer programs to now include "female suicide bombers" in them, and the billion-dollar gaming industry's morbid penchant for imitation, public attention is also shifting to the role such popular sims play in the recent spate of massacres against unarmed civilians.

Those who've studied the negative impact graphicly violent games have on habitual players fear that adding female shooting targets in them will greatly increase the likelihood of more mass gunman targeting women and children. Perhaps even in teams, since these unstable types tend to copycat and are always competing for top scores.

This upcoming Friday has been designated as an international day of mourning and memorium for the Sandy Hook victims. In a self-conscious move this week, major spokesmen for the gaming community have publicly appealed for a virtual ceasefire in honor of that day.

Researchers note that besides dangerously elevating aggression in participants, these violent videogames are also psychologically addicting, so it's not known if any gamers will be able to abide by their leaders' request, even if they wanted to.

Jack Culolias found drowned

The search for a missing 19-year-old Arizona State University student appears to have tragically ended:

Officials say the body of a young man who was fished out of the Salt River two days ago was garbed in the same clothing Jack Culolias was last known to be wearing.

The corpse also had on a red Vans sneaker, the perfect match to one found on the riverbank in the beginning of December when family and friends first scoured the area.

Culolias mysteriously vanished after reportedly being roughed up by bouncers at the Cadillac Ranch in the Tempe Marketplace.

Security personnel there say they were forced to eject him twice from the bar-and-grill because he was so intoxicated he was urinating from the balcony. However they were unable to find any surveillance tape documenting the event.

It is not clear if those bouncers were ever brought in for questioning, but police are asserting today that there is "no foul play" involved in Culolias' death. They think the 19-year-old ASU frat-pledge probably went down to the water to relieve himself and "accidentally" fell in it and drowned.

Because the young man had just been caught in the act of urinating, some think that an unlikely theory.

Adding to the puzzle of Culolias' sudden disappearance is the fact that his body was found floating in a locale that had already been thoroughly combed by the community before. As well it had been searched by police tactical dive teams equipped with state-of-the-art sonar.

There has been no official word from the family yet.

No Motive for Sandy Hook Massacre

As the world grieves for a loss of innocence that reaches far beyond the carnage at Sandy Hook Elementary School, authorities continue their desperate search for the meaning and motive behind the unprecedented school attack this month, meticulously planned and perpetrated by a twenty-year-old sociopath named Adam Lanza.

That investigation is being hampered by the destruction of Lanza's computers sometime before he set out to massacre defenseless children and their teachers on December 14th 2012.

Regardless though, what is slowly emerging is a troubling picture of a deeply disturbed youth with a long history of explosive behavior, and one who practically held his mother hostage in their mini-mansion with his bizarre quirks and deadly rages.

It's a portrait of classic psychosis, the mental unraveling of a killer whose tendency toward aggression became fully manifested in recent years through marathon sessions of life-like, single-shooter videogames conducted behind locked doors.

Adam  Lanza, who not only slew 26 others in less than ten minutes, but also took his own life when he heard the sirens approaching the scene of his horrific crime, was a ticking time bomb, everyone acquainted with him says. A bomb destined to go off close to home, which had a very short fuse.

As a culture that has seen too many of these kinds of mass assaults now, we want and need to make sense of such a heinous act of brutality. Especially when the victims are so clearly blameless for what happened to them--children less than seven years of age who've wronged nobody are, without a doubt, innocents.

But what if there is no sense to be made of it?

The Message Is the Media

Dig as we may and for as long as we might, we'll never find a logical explanation for the Sandy Hook Massacre. Not hidden among shattered hard drives yet to be reconstructed and deciphered, nor in some rambling suicide note or manifesto -- neither of which were left behind by this young killer, or so the police have claimed.

That's because there really is no rational reason for this latest show of hate: The bloodbath itself is the sole motivation.

Adam Lanza, and others like him in the past, as well as those malevolently poised to strike in the near future, are simply homicidal maniacs. They fantasize about murdering people with the same unquenchable thirst as an alcoholic has for a bottle of liquor.

But where once upon a time such lunatics may have sat in a dark corner and impotently seethed and howled in madness, now their murderous longings and killer skills are being cultivated and expressed through nonstop violent videogaming.

And as film studios struggle to keep pace with the gaming trend, these perverse obsessions are also being supplemented by an intensely graphic barrage of similar movie themes and motifs.

We don't want to hear this, naturally, and it's not a popular premise, what with so many millions of people from all walks of life and mental makeups engaging in this form of recreational homicide. Still, it's a truth we must embrace now, if we ever hope to stop all this senseless violence.

And, rest assured, it is totally senseless.

Controlling Your Guns

Yes, please do that. Don't make the mistake that Nancy Lanza made, hoping for the better from her dangerous son and, instead, being shot to death by him with her own firearms as she lay in bed sleeping...

Many parents are coming forward to share their grief with the world this week. Not just those in Newtown Connecticut who have had to put their little ones into small graves without their being able to open their holiday presents. But parents who, just like Lanza's murdered mother, are secretly housing someone in their homes who they dearly love, but who absolutely terrifies them.

In bygone eras such scary individuals could be, and would be, "put away" by their relatives. Especially if, like Mr. and Mrs. Lanza, who both worked in the world of finance, they were from a wealthy family.

Asylums turned out to be abusive places though, we sadly learned, and too often victims of familial abuse and those wronged by people in positions of power were being whisked away to such houses of horror in order to silence them.

As a result, most of these institutions have been emptied and boarded up in recent decades, and newer facilities have replaced these which are run much more humanely, and with greater emphasis on the human rights of those who suffer profound and incurable mental illnesses.

As Adam Lanza did.

Probing Questions

Families with youngsters like the Sandy Hook slayer, whose school and medical records show was mentally defective from birth, know there is nothing they can do these days to permanently keep their lethal loved ones locked away someplace where they might be prevented from harming themselves and others.

That's an issue then which needs to be revisited in the massive probe currently underway by officials seeking to pinpoint the source of rage behind the mass murder of Sandy Hook's first-graders, and of the women who tried to save them.

However, keeping firearms and knives and other dangerous devices out of reach of unstable individuals is obviously a priority, too. Not doing so is the lapse of good judgment that not only cost a gun enthusiast her own life, but which also shattered the lives of the good people she called her friends and altered a community she deeply cherished forever.

It's not exactly the legacy Nancy Lanza envisaged for herself, nor, apparently, one such a famously generous person deserved. But it was predictable, nonetheless.

Product Safety & Quality Controls

Who knows that, in the weeks leading up to this gruesome event, Lanza's mother may not have suddenly realized the role videogaming was having on her son's already worrisome behavior. Perhaps, in that moment of enlightenment, she had sought to thwart the inevitable by destroying these "play" toys of his, or maybe even disabling all his computers.

If so, it was too late for that simplistic approach--there are many documented accounts of parents mistakenly addressing escalating hostilities in this similar manner, only to be murdered in retaliation by their vengeful offspring very soon thereafter.

So prevention is going to be the only answer now. Recognizing the inherent health risks that virtual-slayer products pose, especially to young consumers still in the developmental stages of life, and then restricting their videogame usage and access to real weaponry is the only practical solution available.

Will morbid moguls of the billion-dollar gaming industry someday be required to include these known risks in bold type on all their packaging? Will lawmakers, scrambling belatedly now to address this rising crime wave, finally demand that distributors of media mayhem alert buyers to the dangers of prolonged use of these products before they purchase them?

Yep, no doubt about it. Tobacco companies and similar manufacturers were eventually forced to do the same, despite spending untold billions of dollars on misinformation campaigns and on dubious "scientists" dolling up dire health statistics.

It's just a question of time then, and how soon that time will come depends entirely on our own honesty and resolve.

And on when the body count finally reaches a level no one in their right mind can tolerate.

Women and Children First (Demography of the Sandy Hook Massacre)

A Crime Magazine exclusive, by Eponymous Rox
(click link above to read without a paid subscription)

NOTE: Today's update on the tragic events in Newtown Connecticut this week supplement the other earlier posts below this one, as well as the special Crime Magazine article referenced above. For any readers who are not fully familiar with this developing story, please be sure to read those pieces too.

Women and Children First

It's notable that there were no adult males killed in the Sandy Hook Massacre on December 14th 2012, and some are suggesting that this might not be just a coincidence--even the children who were mercilessly butchered by Adam Lanza were mostly girls.

Violence against women and children is on the rise this century, both here and abroad, and, while not all mass shooters display such discriminating 'tastes' in selecting their victims, it's not unlikely that Adam Lanza did.

In fact, some sources say there is no indication that the disturbed youth targeted any male staff members in the school rampage, and that it's possible many of the younger male victims were actually shot when they panicked and fled from a hiding place that one of their (female) teachers had hastily secured for them.

That brave young woman was gunned down placing her body between the children and the shooter, by the way. As were all six of the adult females slain on this gruesome day.

Where, then, were all the adult males when this slaughter was in progress? Well, nobody's really saying.

And Superman, Thor, the Hulk, and Captain America...?

All of them also missing in action.

But with or without the protection of men, the overall safety and security of society's "most vulnerable" members is a pretty fair measure of just how "civilized" a civilization actually is.

If women and children and not safe from criminals when alone in their homes, if they're not safe in their public schools, if they're not safe on their neighborhood sidewalks, or in parking lots and shopping malls and grocery stores and movie theatres...well, that says an awful lot about the state of their nation.

And what it's saying isn't very positive.

Patently False

Media sources continue to falsely report that the principal of Sandy Hook Elementary School unwittingly allowed demented Adam Lanza into the building by overriding the brand new security system for him.

The system in question is designed to activate an automatic lockdown of all the building's exits and entrances at 9:30 AM when morning classes are usually scheduled to commence.

Not only does it defy logic that the principal would deactivate this built in safety feature for a masked intruder, but it does a grave injustice to this selfless and courageous woman who knowingly sacrificed her own life by lunging at the gunman when he broke in.

In short, it's very clear that the principal did everything humanly possible to prevent Adam Lanza from gaining access to the children under her watch and care, many of whom were at that moment assembling in the auditorium and in various nearby classrooms.

In her desperate effort, the school's principal was aided by the school's psychologist, and both of these women were gunned down together in "execution style" in the main hallway.

So, in reality, investigators think Lanza probably arrived a few minutes too late to simply walk into the school unnoticed, and, thus, shattered the glass near the main entrance by calculatingly spraying it in a hail of bullets from his semi-automatic rifle.

They also theorize the attack was preplanned and that the heavily armed shooter may have been targeting those two particular female staffers anyway, as he reportedly had an "altercation" with them and two others just the day before, when he first attempted to illegally enter the facility.

These four staffers had succeeded in barring Lanza on that occasion, and so the deranged young man returned on the next day instead, with a vengeance.

Although Adam Lanza probably had a concealed weapon with him the day before, when he did come back again police say he was armed to the teeth, having already shot to death his mother in her bedroom, apparently while the woman was sleeping.

Not incidentally, the fourth female of the group that had evicted Lanza the day before the massacre survived the subsequent mass shooting event only because she hadn't actually come to work that day.

Not much else is known about this major fracas at this time however, because authorities are still investigating the incident.

Social Equality & Sociopaths

Someday soon, as a result of all this much-too-frequent bloodshed, and as a result of more women and children now being without a male for whom they think they can rely on daily for protection, males and females will begin to be socialized from birth in the exact same way.

But, until then, they're not: By and large, most females are still raised to be submissive and their male counterparts are still being raised to be aggressive--ideally as breadwinners and protectors of women and children, rather than their predators.

Which is to say, that the next time an event of this grievous nature occurs, (and it will) hopefully the males nearby will do more than just flee and hide with the children.

Because the heroics the women of Sandy Hook exhibited under fire, such as rushing the shooter to tackle and disarm him, were precisely what must be done in such extreme situations. And these acts are best performed all at once, without hesitation, and as a group rather than individually or in pairs.

Men too, are still much taller and stronger than women are, and although the fight or flight mode in both sexes is very strong, and the flight instinct most commonly the one that is  triggered under stress, a little training is all that is required to correct the mistaken belief that running away from a gunman is "safer".

In fact, running away is what that weak-minded, and very often weak-bodied, young man wants people to do. That way he not only feels more powerful than he usually does in "real life", but he can kill at liberty and in far greater numbers.

As was the case with 20-year-old mad gamer and psychopath, Adam Lanza.

Talking About Talking

A choked up President Obama is visiting the desecrated town of Newton, Connecticut today to offer the thousands of victims of this most recent act of senseless brutality his condolences, support, and some solace.

In addition, Obama has publicly vowed to open a "meaningful" dialog now about guns and violence, particularly as it pertains to the rising crime wave among the young and these now-commonplace mass assaults.

Discussing discussions is a good start, of course, but advocates for gun control will be the first to say that it's also a long overdue move, with too many dead having piled up during an inordinate and unjustified delay.

What's more, if these proposed talks fail to address the role of violent videogames in this surge of violence, and if the billion-dollar gaming industry itself is not also forced to come to the table, this will all be for naught.

Remember, Klebold and Harris, Jared Loughner, James Holmes, Adam Lanza...all these young mass murderers and many, many more just like them were violent video-gamers. All of these dangerous psychopaths methodically trained as expert marksmen via simulated single-shooter programs and a "harmless" little joystick.

Sandy Hook Massacre- Adam Lanza & Ryan Lanza - UPDATES

THE WORST PUBLIC SCHOOL SHOOTING IN U.S. HISTORY:

UPDATE on 1/11/13: A GRAY MATTER: Though Lanza blew his own skull to bits, Connecticut's state medical examiner says he was still able to determine "no sign of abnormalities" in the Kindergarten Killer's brain. He also holds out little hope now that toxicology and DNA tests will reveal any clues as to the reason for the Sandy Hook massacre.

Not much else of substance has materialized from the ongoing investigation and, as the days and weeks pass in its aftermath, the public grows more and more skeptical about what really happened at the elementary school, and why.

UPDATE on 1/4/13: Investigators are hoping to reenact the crime scene outside of Sandy Hook Elementary now because shots were fired at first responders in the school's parking lot and bullets hit several vehicles, including one belonging to a murdered teacher.

However, among the number of police who first arrived at Sandy Hook there still remain some who are seriously traumatized by the carnage they were confronted with that day. These officers are still on psych leave because of it.

It's not known, therefore, when or if ever they'll be able to assist with this final aspect of the investigation, and investigators haven't indicated if they're finally searching for a second party to the shootings or not.

They have stated that there is "no timeline" for completing the Lanza inquiry and the state's attorney in Danbury Connecticut, Stephen J. Sedensky III, suggested officials could go either way with regards to more arrests, depending on whatever other evidence they manage to uncover.

"I can't say absolutely not because I have to see the whole investigation," Sedensky cautiously emphasized.

In the early hours of the school massacre on December 14th, a man in camouflage was apprehended in the woods adjacent to the facility, but shortly released.

This puzzling event, coupled with the existence of other weaponry left behind in the trunk of Lanza's getaway car, has caused some speculation that he may have had an accomplice. But this is a theory which local and federal authorities originally insisted had no plausibility.

The identity of the individual who'd been detained on that day has not been released.

UPDATE on 12/30/12: Lanza's father has secretly claimed his body for burial this week, acording to sources at the county morgue. The Kindergarten Killer's body will be laid to rest in an undisclosed location, they said.

UPDATE on 12/28/12: Are conspiracy theorists correct this time? A judge has blocked release today of search warrants in the Sandy Hook slayings citing "the ongoing investigation" into other suspects and homes, and the fear that these so far unnamed parties might be placed in "danger" by premature revelations.

Those search orders, originally slated to be released this week for public scrutiny, have now been sealed until the end of March 2012 when, no doubt, investigators will once more request that their "sensitive" contents be kept off limits.

Not so private, however, are current efforts by Connecticut's chief medical examiner and a team of geneticists to determine if psycho-shooter Adam Lanza carried an *evil seed* in his genome which, if known about, might have predicted his potential for extreme violence.

Scientists already know that "Asperger's Syndrome" which is a mild form of autism does not cause homicidal tendencies as a rule, but that certain other mental defects such as schizophrenia and similar psychopathologies do cause violent outbursts if left untreated. However, these are usually only detectable in the brains of live patients through active scans.

In this case, since Lanza is dead--reportedly from a gunshot wound to the head--those tests are now rendered useless.  Genetic analysis then remains the only viable way to see if mutations associated with those more severe mental disorders are present in a more in depth autopsy.

The gene mapping of a mass murderer has never been done before. Final results are not expected until sometime in January.

UPDATE on 12/26/12: Mother of killer Adam Lanza allegedly spent almost the entire three days prior to the Sandy Hook shootings out of state on a binge, apparently in a vain attempt to escape escalating domestic turmoil festering in her Newtown Connecticut residence.

Anonymous sources, presumably from New Hampshire, claim they observed Nancy Lanza at a hotel retreat drinking alone and "glassey-eyed" until the wee small hours of the morning. She then checked out and drove straight back to Newtown, only to be shot to death less than twelve hours later by her deranged younger son as she slept.

Rumors were that dead "Kindergarten Killer" Adam Lanza was to be cremated by his remaining family members early in the week, but last reports are that his corpse has still not been claimed from the county morgue.

Update on 12/19/12: Investigators have now uncovered a great degree of malice and planning by Adam Lanza in the days, weeks and possibly months prior to the Sandy Hook massacre. This has led them to suspect that the baby killer's mother may have been understating that the psychotic youth only suffered from Asperger's Sydrome. Or maybe she was even outright lying about it.

Although rumors abound today, police say they've found no proof that Lanza was on psychotropic medications. Additionally, the story published on major media outlets last night and this morning asserting that Lanza went on the rampage because he learned his mother was planning to "committ" him have been refuted by the father of the source quoted, and dismissed by officials as hearsay.

Because Asperger's is a mild form of autism and not generally associated with acts of violence of such an extreme nature, the chief medical examiner for the state of Connecticut has been give the go ahead to further analyze Lanza's corpse. He'll be looking for evidence of genetic disease that might indicate Lanza suffered from a far more serious mental illness.

This should be easy to accomplish now since, as of late last night, nobody has yet come to collect the bodies of Adam Lanza or his mother Nancy, despite that the deceased have wealthy family living close by in the area.

Update on 12/18/12: Authorities say that the hard drives of a key computer found in child-killer Adam Lanza's windowless dungeon lair had been destroyed sometime before his assassination of dozens of 6-year-olds and their unarmed female teachers at the Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Experts say that this discovery proves the  massacre was intricately planned but also serves to confound the cyber forensic inquiry into the events that preceded it.

However, a cache of violent video games and other items has successfully been retrieved, and police haven't given up on the possibility of finding other important data such as the names and IP addresses of those Lanaz had been communicating with before he went berserk.

Lanza was a gaming addict with a history of bizarre behavior and mental issues. He is believed to be the one who took a hammer or screwdriver to the hard drive in an effort to thwart police from tracing his online footprint as well as discovering who his cohorts may be.

To those ends, investigators say they are using other means to obtain this information.

Update on 12/16/12 - PM: Police evacuated a church in Newtown today after someone called in a bomb threat. This is the second time an anonymous individual has sought to intimidate the bereaved community--earlier, residents found a goodwill poster had been vandalized with a menacing message threatening that Friday's rampage was only the beginning.

Update on 12/16/12 - PM: Shooter's brother, Ryan Lanza, 24, told police investigators that he was "estranged" from his younger brother in recent years, implying a concern for his own safety. Police have also stated today that Adam Lanza had a room devoted to his computers and fanatically played his "extremely graphic" videogames there. He destroyed his hard drives before the massacre, they say, but notwithstanding, police are still steadily piecing together the cyber forensic aspects of this case.

Update on 12/16/12 - AM: Officials confirm that Adam Lanza attempted to gain entrance to the Sandy Hook Elementary school the day before the massacre, but was confronted by four female staff members and barred. Three of those four, including the principal herself, were shot dead the next day. The fourth was spared only because she didn't come to work the morning of the rampage. It's likely Lanza was armed on this occasion too, but little else has been disclosed about the incident because police are still investigating.

Update on 12/15/12: A close friend of the shooter's murdered mother, Nancy Lanza, 53, described her as a "high-strung" gun "fanatic" with numerous firearms in her collection, and who frequently took her sons to firing ranges to improve their aim. Her brother is also a police officer in the state of New Hampshire where she was born and raised. He was in the Newtown, Connecticut area today but unable to comment.

Update on 12/15/12: As Killing Killers reported below on 12/14/12, all child victims were only between five to seven years of age. Medical examiners have further determined today that each were shot multiple times with a high-powered, semi-assault rifle.

S T O R Y : 12/14/12

A bloody rampage that may have begun late in the night or in the pre-dawn hours of the morning has left dozens of dead, including the gunman's mother and himself.

Sources speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the ongoing investigation say that the shooter, Adam Lanza, 20, died of a self-inflicted gun wound and that his 24-year-old brother, Ryan Lanza, is in custody and being questioned.

Alleged to be a diehard video gaming enthusiast, Adam Lanza entered the Sandy Hook Elementary School in suburban Connecticut just as the school day was beginning.

According to eye witnesses, he arrived there dressed in combat fatigues, heavily armed with pistols and at least one assault rifle, and forced his way into the facility, silently opening fire on the principal, teachers, and a classroom of first-graders.

Although that room is where the casualties were concentrated, officials now say some of those children may have managed to escape.

A child from another class close by reported hearing a scream for help come over the school's Public Address system, but said the person was quickly silenced, and then the gunshots began.

When the list is confirmed at 28 -- the majority of them schoolchildren -- the violence and resulting fatalities surpasses the infamous Columbine High Massacre by double.

An older Lanza brother was originally rumored to be near the crime scene at Sandy Hook as events were unfolding there this morning, and was therefore considered a possible accomplice to the mass murder spree. But police now say Ryan Lanza, age 24, has been "extremely cooperative" with the investigation and is not under arrest.

He was detained by police at his Hoboken, New Jersey residence.

Federal agents from the ATF and FBI as well as SWAT teams arrived on the chaotic scene at the elementary school and then helped local police forces already assembled from the county and state to orchestrate lockdowns and student evacuations.

They also coordinated a swift room-to-room manhunt for the shooter which resulted in the discovery of Adam Lanza's body, and, reportedly, those of two teachers in one of the corridors.

Children said authorities escorting them in large groups from the school told them all to "shut their eyes" and to not open them again until they were safe outdoors. A precaution presumably taken so the youngsters would not see the bodies of their teachers or classmates or be frightened by the spectacle of armed men in the halls.

A neighbor who has claimed to be acquainted with the Lanza siblings described them both as "troubled" young men. But another individual from the area, who said he had known a Ryan Lanza in high school, doubted the same person could be capable of such a heinous act. He called the teen he knew "quiet" and "into computers."

Previously and incorrectedly cited as the dead shooter by all the major networks as the day progressed, 24-year-old Ryan Lanza finally declared his status as 'innocent' on his Facebook page: "It wasn't me" and "I was at work" it said.

Adding to the confusion were rampant reports that police had cordoned off a secondary crime scene, purported to be the Lanza brothers' other home in Hoboken, New Jersey, where the body of their father was to have been discovered.

But the father, Peter Lanza, is said to live in Stamford Connecticut, and...appears to be alive and well.

In that same state of New Jersey, though, a girlfriend of Adam Lanza, as well as another friend, were also reported to be missing, and sources originally feared more foul play and bodies would emerge before the day is done. However those parties have since been contacted by investigators, although the content of their discussions have not been released.

During his own questioning, Ryan Lanza informed investigators that his now-deceased younger brother had a mild form of autism known as Asperger's Syndrome and other "personality problems" that may have negatively impacted his mental health.

Adam Lanza used his mother's own car to drive over to the school today, as well as her own handguns to do the shooting with.

Police confirm that the disturbed youth first shot his mother, Nancy Lanza, dead in her home near the Sandy Hook Elementary School where she was falsely rumored to have once been employed as a Kindergarten teacher/assistant. Then he drove to the school to continue his rampage.

In a special White House news conference concerning the massacre, President Obama, himself a father to school-age daughters, choked back tears at the idea that someone would vindictively slaughter so many kids. "Our hearts are broken," he said.

However, earlier in the day the Obama administration had issued a different statement to the news, declaring that "now is not the time to debate gun control legislation."
