Midlothian Murder Mystery - Was Killer a Woman?

PHOTOS: The Midlothian murder mystery continues to deepen days after a beloved fitness guru was found slain at a Texas church.

Police have stepped back from earlier assertions that the cop-imposter sought in the predawn killing of 45-year-old Terri 'Missy' Bevers, as she was preparing to hold her Monday morning exercise class, is 'male.'

"We are backing off our statement that the suspect on video was a man," a local law enforcement official told reporters today. "We said 'he' over and over again yesterday, and that was a mistake."

He added that, although investigators are still unsure of the killer's actual gender, "there's a lot of speculation, based on the gait and appearance, this person may be a woman."

Via Facebook, police have also released the below series of surveillance stills, with a few more seconds of live video, filmed inside the Creekside Church, in hopes someone will recognize the suspect's "distinctive walk."

Whoever the person is, they acted familiar with the layout of the building and might have even disabled some motion-activated cameras before the deadly incident, as no footage is said to exist where the assault itself occurred, or in other key places.

Midlothian Murder Mystery: Was Missy Bevers' killer a woman?

Additionally, a coroner has determined exactly how Ms. Bevers died in Monday's mysterious attack. However, on orders from detectives working the case, those findings are being kept confidential.

Thus, "only her murderer" and those involved in apprehending the individual presently know the manner in which the middle-aged mother-of-three was slain two days ago; albeit a motive, as with the killer's identity, still remains elusive.

Midlothian police did disclose that Missy Bevers briefly "struggled" with her unknown assailant and that first responders found "a lot of broken glass" at the crime scene near and around her body.

Although the victim's husband doesn't believe his wife was specifically "targeted" for homicide, the theory she might have "interrupted a burglary" is beginning to seem more and more unlikely.

According to police and church officials, despite the intruder "vandalizing" the building just moments before instructor Bevers' arrival for her weekly 5:00 a.m. 'boot camp' session, nothing apparently was stolen from the facility.

Left: Slain fitness guru Missy Bevers + Right: the cop poser who killed her

It's also no longer clear if the fitness trainer's "heavily disguised" assassin was armed either, since it appears she (or he) "used a pry-bar" to break-and-enter and didn't display knives or firearms once indoors.

That metal object may therefore be the murder weapon too, suggesting Missy Bevers died from blunt force trauma. Although, once again, detectives have declined to release these type of case details to the public, citing their "ongoing investigation."

They are confirming the Midlothian murder suspect suited up "in tactical gear" before coming to the church, including donning "a heavy helmet" with a face-guard, and various official insignias "designed" to make them "look like a police officer."

It is the cop impersonator aspect of the “extremely unusual" crime which has law enforcement concerned “something else" besides a robbery "was going on here," and why they're especially eager to take the killer into custody as quickly as possible.

To those aims, the Texas Rangers have joined forces with the Midlothian Police Department to help solve the murder of Missy Bevers, and an area business is offering a substantial reward for tips leading to the arrest and prosecution of her killer.

Anyone with such information is urged to contact the MPD at 972-775-3333, or Ellis County Crime Stoppers at 972-937-7297.

Boogeyman in Leila Fowler Stabbing Death is Her Brother

Fowler stabbing: "Brother's blood & fingerprints on crime scene"
Isaiah Fowler to be tried as a minor for non-premeditated murder
More counts may be pending for "depravity" and elaborate hoax
Allegations of animal torture and killing now being investigated:

If police are correct in their gruesome new theory, then the alleged boogeyman who viciously stabbed to death little Leila Fowler in April 2013 is none other than her 12-year-old brother, Isaiah.

The boy, who was finally arrested this week, had been seen attending public prayer vigils wearing pink and purple ribbons and carrying balloons to honor his slain sister's memory.

It's not clear yet if he has confessed to the unusually brutal crime, but he first told investigators that a "muscular man with gray hair" had entered their California home when the two youngsters were alone together. He then discovered his sibling's butchered body soon after the assailant fled on foot.

The 8-year-old girl had been stabbed at least 21 times, police reported, and her stepbrother's bogus boogeyman tale set off neighbors' nerves, a community-wide lockdown, and a massive manhunt for the alleged perpetrator.

Leila Fowler has at last been laid to rest this month, and her shaken community, although in double shock today, is at peace now as well.

Additional allegations against Isaiah Fowler have recently surfaced concerning bullying and animal mutilations prior to the murder of his sister. These are being investigated to determine if the suspect might have been escalating into a violent sociopath.

His father, however, insists his son is innocent of his daughter's slaying, despite that the youth had been suspended earlier in the year for bringing a knife to his middle school...

Viciously killing one's family members ... does anybody remember "Wyley Gates"?

AMY BISHOP UPDATE: She's changed her mind, she's innocent.

Female murderers are a rarity. That's probably why society tends to focus so much attention on them and their crimes. Maybe it's even the reason why they're treated so harshly when it comes to sentencing or coverage by the press. Homicide isn't supposed to be in a woman's domain, after all. Killing isn't ladylike.

Nevertheless, if ever there was a killer out there who justifies the existence, and necessity, of the death penalty, it would be the Butcher of Braintree Dr. Amy Bishop.

With a long history dating back to when she was only 21 of murder and attempted murder and other assorted mayhem--for which she was never punished--she's in prison now only for one of those offenses: the 2010 Huntsville Massacre, in which she shot to death three of her fellow biology professors and seriously maimed three more for life.

As with Bishop's prior (covered up) crimes, her bloody campus rampage was a premeditated act too, allegedly committed because she felt she'd been "robbed" of tenure at the Alabama university where she taught neuroscience to undergraduates.

It was an open and shut case against her, of course, but in the state of Alabama she faced being put to death if she was found guilty of mass murder, and her attorneys realized that a bogus insanity defense, not supported by medical experts or any evidence, wasn't going to save her.

This was why, at the eleventh hour, Amy Bishop copped a plea and admitted she was guilty for the slayings of her colleagues. In the process, tacitly agreeing it would be better to sit for the rest of her life in a jail cell without the possibility of parole or appeal, than to sit strapped for only a few short minutes in the electric chair.

Proof the woman doesn't mind taking other peoples' lives, but the thought of losing her own as a consequence was obviously unpleasant.

Her guilty plea legally approved by the trial court, Bishop was then quickly transferred to Tutwiler Prison this past September, and, after spending the first month there separated from the general population, faced having to be fully integrated with fellow inmates by early November.

All in all then, this career criminal spent perhaps 40 or so days of her life sentence at this historic institution for females before deciding the experience was beneath her and reneging on her plea deal.

And it goes without saying, if the defendant had gotten the sentence she truly deserved right from the start, this latest travesty of justice she's engineered could never have happened, and Alabama taxpayers wouldn't be charged with yet another huge bill for her defense expenses.

Below is a copy of Bishop's notice of appeal, filed with the Madison County Circuit Court of Alabama on November 5th, 2012. Although the document doesn't state on what flimsy grounds she plans to rescind her guilty plea, rumor has it she intends to argue that her lawyers were incompetent. Although she agreed not to appeal in exchange for a life sentence, those same attorneys are required by law to sign and file an appeal for her if she demands one. They have fulfilled this obligation to their client, but have removed themselves from representing her any further.

Who do you believe the Long Island Serial Killer is?

When a high-profile series of murders go suddenly cold, public speculation and finger pointing can start to run rampant.

Such is the case with the Long Island serial killings, uncovered at Gilgo Beach in 2010 after a bizarre 911 call from a Craigslist call-girl named Shannon Gilbert led to her subsequent disappearance, a fumbled search, and her weird drowning.

The discovery of Gilbert's body and, with it, a dozen other similar victims, was a pretty hot story then, but it's one that has since begun to languish in the media as the Suffolk County Police Department remains either tight-lipped about the matter or utterly disinterested in apprehending a perp (or perps), for fear it's somebody they might know.

Nevertheless, the $25,000 reward SCPD is offering for information leading to the arrest of the "unsub" (Unknown Suspect) still stands...

No takers as yet, but, really, who is murdering prostitutes in the New York City district and then dumping their bodies in the remote, swampy regions of Long Island?

Is it, as rumored in the press, a local police surgeon with unsavory connections and questionable predilections? Or, perhaps, a rabidly misogynistic out-of-towner vacationing on Gilgo in the summer months? Or even a pair of former NYPD detectives with a hater agenda and really bad attitudes about women?

Or is it someone else completely?

Well, whoever this fiendish slayer is, they've got a pretty good knowledge of police forensics, apparently, and a rather pronounced and passionate dislike for workers in the sex trade, evidently.

Who do you think the Long Island Serial Killer is?

Amazon 'Hot New Release'

by EPONYMOUS ROX
Subject: True Crime > Mass Murder
Top 50 Category: Criminology
Edition: Kindle eBook - $2.99
(synopsis below)

Killing is just child’s play. A game. In fact, it’s so easy, you can plan it out on a computer, if you’re smart enough. And he is smart. A real genius, they all say: honor student, salutatorian, class vice president. So…what is that magic number then? How many times can he get away with murder?

On the outside, the quiet and withdrawn 17-year-old seemed just a harmless high school nerd, preoccupied with technology, money, computer games, and college. But on the inside he was a seething psychopath, conspiring with classmates to massacre his family so he could have a six-digit inheritance all to himself.

Meet the wily Wyley Gates, twisted mastermind of an assassin-style program called Infierno, which he used in 1986 to execute a bloodbath so heartless and gruesome it was dubbed “the crime of the century” in upstate New York.

DUNGEONS DRAGONS MURDER methodically pieces together physical evidence, autopsy findings, police accounts, trial testimonies, and even the confessions of the killer and his accomplices, to reconstruct the Gates family shootings and the other carefully orchestrated criminal acts designed to lead up to it.

Third in the 'Killing Killers' true crime series by Eponymous Rox, this special report reveals a chilling portrait of a remorseless and deeply disturbed mass-murderer set free on a technicality to slay again. And shows why it’s possible that he has killed at least once before the massacre—and since.

Help sought in suspicious drowning

The family of 23-year-old "drown" victim Gregory Hart believe he was murdered and they are appealing for the public's help in gathering information which will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for his disappearance and subesequent drowning in Providence Rhode Island in March of 2010.

Greg Hart was at a downtown Providence pub celebrating a new job when he mysteriously became separated from his friends. His badly battered corpse was found a few days later on the banks of the Woonasquatucket River. His loved ones conducted the search for him because local authorities appeared to be unwilling to launch a timely search and rescue. The facts of this young man's death are covered in THE CASE OF THE DROWNING MEN.

Closure nearing for Huntsville Massacre

BISHOP MASS MURDER TRIAL BEGINS @ 10:00 AM TODAY:  Now that Dr. Amy Bishop has pled guilty to the Huntsville Alabama campus rampage she planned and executed in 2010, she no longer has to fear the death penalty; nor will she be able to bog down Alabama's cash-strapped justice system with proving her insanity defense. Sane or not, doesn't matter anymore. But because she faces, instead, life without parole for slaying three of her fellow biology professors and wounding three more, she must still sit through an abbreviated trial for sentencing purposes. That finally begins today.

Whatever the final legal disposition of this contest should be, it's not the last we'll hear from or about The Butcher of Braintree, since she'll also have to face trial in Massachusetts soon for the 1986 murder of her younger brother Seth. Breaking news regarding that matter, and all other Bishop updates, will continue to be posted here on Killing Killers.

Drown victim's family offers $100,000 reward

The parents of Alexander Grant, the 19-year-old who mysteriously drowned last winter after attending a party in upstate New York and becoming separated from his friends, believe he was the victim of foul play and are now offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of his murderer/s. Alexander’s suspicious drowning is one of the deaths featured extensively in my published report THE CASE OF THE DROWNING MEN. For full analysis and details of it, including the complete police report and autopsy findings, click HERE. For the terms and conditions of the Grant family’s bounty offer click HERE. Below is an excerpt of their appeal for the public’s assistance:

“We are Ken and Deanna Grant, the parents of Alexander Grant.  Alex died last year in Saratoga Springs, New York, after driving there to visit a friend who was attending college in the area.  His death has caused us more sadness than we can describe, and we are asking you to help us find the answers which we know must exist as to how Alex went from a dorm room to a house party and ended up dead some six hours later.  So far, all we have learned is that the events of his last night alive cannot be explained by what is currently known…
This is why we are offering a $100,000 reward to the first person who comes forward with material information leading to the arrest and conviction of any person(s) responsible for causing Alex’s death.[i]  We know that Alex encountered many people on the night he died, and we hope and pray that you can help us learn how and why he died…
After an extensive investigation of this tragedy, undertaken by the Saratoga Springs Police Department, the Saratoga County District Attorney, the New York State Medical Examiner and others, we are convinced in our hearts, minds and souls, that the key contributing factors leading to Alex’s death have not yet been disclosed.  We are not alone in our belief that Alex’s death cannot be explained by the official report of his death, issued in September 2011. Many of those involved in the investigation have also expressed their belief that material facts remain unknown.”

Amy Bishop murder trial

delayed again

Having been fired from her teaching post at the University of Alabama within hours of executing her colleagues in room 369 on the Huntsville campus, Amy Bishop lost not only her freedom on February 12th 2010, but her livelihood as well.
Bishop was the sole breadwinner of her household up until that time, and, faced then with defending herself in an Alabama courtroom against capital murder charges, she had no choice but to proceed as an indigent. Or, to put it in plain English, by filing for the benefits of poor person status.
Naturally, her defense team is not claiming Bishop’s innocence in the Huntsville Massacre. It is, after all, not exactly a whodunit—she was caught red handed—but rather a why and what for case. Was it an isolated act of revenge from having been denied tenure a few months prior, or is the defendant just a crazed killer who doesn’t know right from wrong?
With evidence subsequently having bubbled to the surface concerning other criminal deeds deeply hidden in Bishop’s past, including the murder of her own brother in 1986, her lawyers are contending it’s the latter, and are pleading the insanity defense on their client’s behalf. That means, even though the woman’s guilty as sin, a jury verdict of “not guilty by reason of insanity” will spare Amy Bishop from a death sentence.
Insanity is not a medical term, of course, but a legal one, so it does require expert testimony to support such a pleading. And that’s not going to be cheap…
Although legal analysts have doubted  from the start that this matter will ever actually go to trial, the costs of obtaining expert medical testimony is the crux of the issue presently at debate. And because, so far, the defense team has yet to find a reputable and affordable psychiatrist willing to uphold their own inexpert evaluation that Bishop is “a wacko” it’s the very reason why they’re deliberately procrastinating.
Bishop’s trial for mass murder was initially scheduled to begin on March 19th 2012, but then, on a motion filed by her attorneys, it was pushed way back to September 10th., presumably to allow more time for psychological testing, if it can be had for nothing.
As of the last week in July 2012, Team Bishop has once more succeeded in having the case postponed. This time it’s not quite the lengthy extension begged for and expected, but, still, those eager for the Bishop trial to get underway—such as her victims—will now have to wait until nearly the end of September for this, while her wily attorneys and the court itself can wrangle over who will pay the legal costs of her insanity defense, and when.
John Carroll, a former federal judge and current dean of the Cumberland School of Law warns, if the matter concerning Bishop’s alleged “entitlement” to a cost-free expert witness is not resolved in her favor and she’s actually sentenced to death, it’ll pave a clear path for mountains of appeals.
Justice delayed, justice denied.
Again.
